Bestselling novelist Alexander McCall Smith, author of the No1 Ladies Detective Agency, has produced a daily online novel in conjunction with UK's newspaper website telegraph.co.uk.
The novel, called Corduroy Mansions, is set in the London district of Pimlico and centres on a cast of characters living in an unassuming house nicknamed Corduroy Mansions.
"It is going to be very much character-led," says McCall Smith. "I would not set out to produce an intimate portrait of London. I don't know the city well enough. But I hope readers take to the characters."
Starting on September 15, it runs for 20 weeks with new daily episodes of about 1000 words each weekday.
Readers can subscribe to a wriiten version by email or feed, or listen to an audio podcast version narrated by Andrew Sachs, the actor who played Manuel in the TV series Fawlty Towers.
You can read an introduction to the novel and its characters or sign up for a daily email, podcast or RSS feed, at telegraph.co.uk.
